Representative Sandlin grew up in Agawam where she attended public schools and graduated from Agawam High School.  She attends the University Without Walls at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.  Her public service includes more than twenty years of active involvement advocating for students and the Agawam School System as a parent of four children and as a school committee member.  She served as President of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees.  She also served as a member of the Agawam Housing Authority for twenty-five years. 

 

Representative Sandlin is a member of the Rotary Club of Agawam where she was the first woman member admitted to the club and also the first woman president of the club.  She was honored by the Rotary as a Paul Harris Fellow.  She is a member of the State Democratic Committee and the Agawam Democratic Committee. 

 

Representative Sandlin is a member of the All Saints Parish in Agawam.  She is also a member of the Agawam St. Patrick's Day Committee.  She is proud to be a member of the Wilson-Thompson Auxiliary Unit 185 of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She is an active supporter of the Holyoke Soldiers Home.  Representative Sandlin is a member of the Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators.

 

She has been appointed by Speaker of the House Salvatore DiMasi to serve on three committees:

*  Transportation

*  Tourism, Arts and Culture

 

Two of Representative Sandlin's goals as your  State Representative are funding for public education and the completion of the Route 57 "flyover" at the South End Bridge in Agawam.
